📘 About the Character Counter
Paste or type your text to count every character, with and without spaces, plus words, sentences and lines. The limits panel shows how many characters you have left for an X (Twitter) post, an SMS, an Instagram caption, a YouTube title, a Google search title and a meta description.
Emoji and letters with accents or matras are counted as single characters, the way people read them.

Do spaces count as characters?
Yes, on almost every platform. The counter shows both totals, with and without spaces.
What is the character limit of an SMS?
160 characters in English. Messages with emoji or Indian-language letters are limited to 70 characters per SMS.
How long should a meta description be?
About 150–160 characters. Google shortens longer descriptions with "…".
