📘 About the Hash Generator
A hash is a fixed-length fingerprint of data: change one letter and the hash changes completely. Type text or choose a file to get its MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512 and CRC32 hashes at once.
Use it to check that a downloaded file matches the checksum published by its maker. Files are hashed on your device and never uploaded.
💡 How to use the Hash Generator
Type text, or click "Hash a file".
Compare the hash with the one you expect.
Click a hash to copy it.
❓ Frequently asked questions
Can a hash be reversed?
No. Hashes are one-way. But MD5 and SHA-1 are no longer secure: never use them alone for passwords.
Which hash should I use?
SHA-256 for checksums and most new work. MD5 and SHA-1 only to match older systems.
