📘 About the EPS Pension Calculator

Under the Employees' Pension Scheme 1995 (EPS-95), part of your employer's EPF contribution (8.33% of salary up to ₹15,000, i.e. up to ₹1,250 a month) goes into a pension fund. After at least 10 years of service you get a monthly pension for life from age 58.

The pension is pensionable salary × pensionable service ÷ 70. Pensionable salary is the average of the last 60 months, capped at ₹15,000 unless you were allowed the higher pension option. If you have 20 years or more of service you get 2 bonus years. You can take a reduced pension from 50 (4% less for each year before 58) or defer it to 60 (4% more for each year after 58).

🧮 Formula

Monthly pension
S × N ÷ 70
Early pension
× (1 − 4% × years before 58)
Deferred pension
× (1 + 4% × years after 58, up to 60)

Where

  • S = pensionable salary
  • N = pensionable service (years, max 35, + 2 bonus at 20+)
Service before 1 September 2014 is calculated with the old ₹6,500 ceiling and a 12-month average; EPFO combines both parts. Use this as an estimate.
