📘 About the SKU Generator

A SKU (stock keeping unit) is your own code for each sellable item. Good SKUs are short, readable and consistent, so staff can tell the product from the code: ACM-TSH-CLS-BLK-M is an Acme T-shirt, Classic, black, medium.

Enter the brand, category and product, then the variant options separated by commas. The generator makes one SKU for every combination (up to 2,000 at a time), with your choice of separator, code length and optional running number. Copy the list or download it as a CSV to import into Excel, Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon or your billing software.

What is a SKU?

A stock keeping unit: an internal code identifying one specific product variant, used for inventory and sales tracking.

What is the difference between a SKU and a barcode (UPC/EAN)?

A SKU is your own code and can contain letters; a UPC or EAN is a universal number from GS1 printed as a barcode. Use the barcode generator to print either.

What makes a good SKU?

8–12 characters, starting with the broadest attribute (brand or category), no spaces or confusing characters (O and 0, I and 1), and never reused for a different product.
