📘 About the CGPA Calculator
CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) combines all your semesters into one number. Universities weight each semester by its credits, because a 26-credit semester counts more than a 20-credit one.
Enter the SGPA of each semester you have finished. If you also enter each semester's total credits (on your grade card), you get the exact credit-weighted CGPA; leave all credits blank for a simple average.
🧮 Formula
Fill credits for every semester or for none; mixing gives a semester without credits a weight of 1.
✏️ Worked examples
Four semesters, simple average
You get| CGPA | 8.28 |
| Semesters counted | 4 |
| Total credits (or semesters) | 4 |
(8.2 + 7.9 + 8.6 + 8.4) ÷ 4 = 8.28.
Try this example →Two semesters with credits 20 and 25
You get| CGPA | 8.56 |
| Semesters counted | 2 |
| Total credits (or semesters) | 45 |
(8 × 20 + 9 × 25) ÷ 45 = 8.56.

❓ Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate CGPA from SGPA?
Multiply each semester's SGPA by its credits, add them, and divide by the total credits. If all semesters have the same credits, simply average the SGPAs.
Is CGPA the average of SGPAs?
Only when every semester has the same number of credits. Otherwise it is the credit-weighted average, which this calculator gives when you enter credits.
How can I raise my CGPA?
Later semesters still count with their full credits, so a strong SGPA in a heavy-credit semester lifts the CGPA most. Clearing a failed subject also replaces its 0 points.
