📘 About the GPA Calculator
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) on the 4.0 scale is the credit-weighted average of your grade points: A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0 and F = 0, with plus and minus grades in between. It is used by US and Canadian colleges, high schools and many universities worldwide.
Choose the grade and credit hours of each course. To see your new cumulative GPA, also enter your current GPA and the credits you have already completed.
🧮 Formula
Most colleges cap A+ at 4.0; a few count it as 4.3 — check your school's scale.

❓ Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate GPA?
Multiply each course's grade points by its credit hours, add them up and divide by the total credit hours. An A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and a B (3.0) in a 4-credit course give (12 + 12) ÷ 7 = 3.43.
What is a good GPA?
3.0 (a B average) is good, 3.5 and above is very good and often needed for honours, scholarships and competitive graduate programmes.
What is the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?
Unweighted GPA uses the plain 4.0 scale. Weighted GPA (in US high schools) adds points for honours or AP courses, so it can exceed 4.0. This calculator gives unweighted GPA.
