📘 About the SPPU CGPA to %

Savitribai Phule Pune University does not use a single multiplier. Circular No. 332 of 2020 gives a separate straight-line equation for each final grade band, so that each band's CGPA range maps exactly onto its marks range (for example A+ covers 75–89%).

Enter your CGPA; the calculator finds your grade band and applies its equation. This applies to the 2019-pattern CBCS courses. Older B.Arch (2015 pattern) marksheets use CGPA × 8.9 instead — check the back of your marksheet.

🧮 Formula

2019 pattern CBCS (Circular 332/2020)
O (9.50–10): 20 × CGPA − 100 · A+ (8.25–9.49): 12 × CGPA − 25 · A (6.75–8.24): 10 × CGPA − 7.5 · B+ (5.75–6.74): 5 × CGPA + 26.25 · B and C (4.75–5.74): 10 × CGPA − 2.5 · D (4.00–4.74): 6.6 × CGPA + 13.6

Where

  • CGPA = SPPU cumulative grade point average
  • Grade bands: O, A+, A, B+, B, C, D
Always check the formula printed on the back of your own marksheet or transcript: if it differs, the marksheet wins.

❓ Frequently asked questions

What is the SPPU CGPA to percentage formula?

It depends on your grade: O: 20 × CGPA − 100; A+: 12 × CGPA − 25; A: 10 × CGPA − 7.5; B+: 5 × CGPA + 26.25; B and C: 10 × CGPA − 2.5; D: 6.6 × CGPA + 13.6.

What is 8 CGPA in percentage in Pune University?

A CGPA of 8.0 is in the A band, so 10 × 8.0 − 7.5 = 72.5%.

Why does SPPU use different equations?

So that the converted percentage stays inside the marks range of your grade. A single multiplier would give, for example, an A+ student a percentage outside the A+ range.

What percentage is first class?

In most Indian universities 60% and above is First Class, 70% or 75% and above is First Class with Distinction, 50–59% is Second Class and 40–49% is Pass Class. Check your university's ordinance for the exact cut-offs.
