📘 About the 100 Minus Age Rule
The 100-minus-age rule is a simple guide to asset allocation. Subtract your age from 100 to get the percentage to hold in equities, and keep the rest in bonds and other safe debt.
As you get older, the equity share falls automatically, reducing risk when you have less time to recover from a market fall.
🧮 Formula
Some planners use 110 or 120 instead of 100 because people now live longer.

❓ Frequently asked questions
Is this advice?
No. It is a rule of thumb. Your goals, risk tolerance and income matter more.
Should I rebalance?
Yes. Review once a year and bring your holdings back to your target split.
Why keep debt at all?
Debt steadies your portfolio and gives you money to draw on when equities fall.
Is 100 minus age still valid?
With longer lives and low FD returns, many planners now suggest 110 or 120 minus age for equity. The calculator shows all three.
