About the Max Heart Rate
Maximum heart rate, often written as HRmax, is the highest heart rate a person is expected to reach during maximal physical effort.
Because maximum heart rate is difficult to determine without a maximal exercise test, age-based equations are commonly used to provide an estimate.
This calculator uses sex-specific equations published from a large dataset of people who completed maximal exercise testing.
The equations estimate maximum heart rate from age and sex only. Your actual maximum heart rate can be different from the calculated value.
