📘 About the Kundli Matching

Kundli matching (kundali milan) is the traditional Vedic way of checking marriage compatibility. The Moon's nakshatra (lunar mansion) and rashi at each person's birth are compared through eight tests — the Ashtakoota — worth 36 gunas in all.

Enter both dates, times and places of birth. The calculator works out the Moon's sidereal position (Lahiri ayanamsa), the nakshatra and pada, each of the 8 kootas, the doshas and whether either person is Manglik (Mars in houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 or 12 from the Moon and the ascendant).

How many gunas are needed for marriage?

Traditionally at least 18 out of 36. 25–31 is very good and 32 or more is excellent.

What is Nadi dosha?

When both partners have the same Nadi (Aadi, Madhya or Antya), scoring 0 of 8 — traditionally linked to health and children.

What if the birth time is unknown?

Midday is used. The Moon moves about 13° a day, so the nakshatra may be off — use the name method in the Guna Milan calculator instead.

What is Manglik dosha?

Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house. Traditionally it's cancelled when both partners are Manglik.

Is this result real or scientific?
