📘 About the Income Tax (New Regime)
This calculator estimates your yearly income tax under the new tax regime, built around how a government employee's pay changes during the year: DA revisions and the annual increment.
It adds up basic pay, DA, HRA and transport allowance across the year, adds bonus and other income, subtracts the standard deduction, and then applies the slab rates, the rebate and cess.

❓ Frequently asked questions
Is the new regime better for me?
It usually is if you claim few deductions. Compare with the old regime if you have large HRA, 80C or home-loan deductions.
Is HRA taxable in the new regime?
Yes. HRA exemption is available only under the old regime, so HRA is treated as part of taxable salary here.
Why is the year divided into three periods?
Because DA is revised in January and July and the annual increment falls in July, pay differs across the year.
What are the new regime tax slabs for FY 2026-27?
Nil up to ₹4 lakh, 5% for 4–8 lakh, 10% for 8–12 lakh, 15% for 12–16 lakh, 20% for 16–20 lakh, 25% for 20–24 lakh and 30% above ₹24 lakh, plus 4% cess.
Is income up to ₹12.75 lakh tax-free?
Yes for salaried people: the ₹75,000 standard deduction plus the 87A rebate on taxable income up to ₹12 lakh means no tax on salary up to ₹12.75 lakh.
